The clients key product allows building an end-to-end communication system (telephony, video conferences, chat rooms, file sharing, and management).
Position overview
A Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for managing and maintaining an organization's database systems, ensuring their performance, and reliability. DBAs play a critical role in storing, organizing, and managing data efficiently, allowing the organization to make informed decisions based on accurate and accessible information.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain database structures, including tables, indexes, and constraints
- Monitor database performance and optimize queries for improved efficiency
- Identify and resolve database performance issues by optimizing SQL queries, indexing, and configuration settings
- Monitor and manage database resource utilization to ensure efficient operation
- Schedule and execute routine maintenance tasks, such as database reorganizations and updates
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures.
- Participate in drills and testing to ensure the organization's ability to recover from data-related disasters
- Plan and execute data migrations, upgrades, and data transfer tasks.
- Validate and ensure data consistency during migrations.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of database systems, configurations, and procedures
- Share knowledge and best practices with team members and stakeholders
- Respond to database-related issues and provide timely resolutions
- Collaborate with Engineering and Operation teams to address database-related problems
- Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR) and data security standards
- Participate in audits and assist in preparing reports for compliance purposes
- Monitor database growth trends and plan for scalability and capacity upgrades as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role
- Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server database management system
- Strong knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with database design principles and data modeling.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
