Responsibilities:
1. Environmental Management & Compliance
- Own and continuously improve the Environmental Management System (EMS) in accordance with ISO 14001.
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain the environmental legal register and implement regulatory changes.
- Manage environmental permits and ensure compliance with permit conditions.
- Coordinate audits, inspections, and assessments and drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory authorities.
2. Waste & Chemical Management
- Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams, ensuring compliant handling, storage, transportation, and disposal.
- Oversee chemical management, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical inventories, storage requirements, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure compliance with REACH and other applicable chemical regulations.
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste generation and improve resource utilization.
3. Energy Management
- Monitor and analyze facility and production energy consumption.
- Develop and implement energy efficiency improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate energy audits and energy performance reporting.
- Ensure compliance with national and EU energy efficiency requirements.
- Develop and maintain energy performance indicators and improvement plans.
4. Operational Excellence & Risk Management
- Partner with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Facilities teams to integrate environmental and energy requirements into daily operations.
- Participate in new process, equipment, and facility projects to ensure environmental and energy considerations are incorporated from the outset.
- Conduct environmental risk assessments and support mitigation planning.
- Investigate incidents, non-compliances, and complaints, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Establish and monitor environmental and energy KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
5. Training & Awareness
- Develop and deliver environmental and energy-related training programs.
- Promote environmental awareness and responsible resource use throughout the organization.
- Support the development of a culture focused on compliance, environmental responsibility, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, Environmental Science, Energy Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental management, energy management, EHS, or a related role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, permitting requirements, waste management, and chemical management practices.
- Experience maintaining and improving ISO 14001 management systems, including participation in certification, surveillance, and recertification audits.
- Knowledge of ISO 50001 principles and energy management systems.
- Experience monitoring, analyzing, and improving energy performance within industrial or manufacturing operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience collecting, analyzing, and presenting data.
- Good project management and organizational skills.
- Professional proficiency in English.
