Senior Master Data Specialist
We are looking for an experienced Senior Master Data Specialist to lead and enhance our global master data practices. In this role, you will not only create and maintain high-quality master data but also drive master data-related projects, resolve complex data issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data supports our business operations effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creating, maintaining, and validating master data records in our ERP system (e.g. SAP) with a deep understanding of business processes and dependencies.
- Acting as the primary contact for complex master data issues, driving root cause analysis and implementing sustainable solutions.
- Leading and coordinating master data-related initiatives and projects across business functions.
- Defining and governing data standards, field-level values and business logic across domains (e.g. materials, customers, vendors).
- Performing advanced data quality assessments, resolving discrepancies, and continuously improving data quality.
- Collaborating closely with global teams (operations, supply chain, finance, IT) to align data practices and support digitalization initiatives.
- Mentoring junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in Master Data Management (MDM), Data Governance, or enterprise data operations.
- Proven experience in creating and managing master data with business understanding (materials, customers, vendors, etc.).
- Proven experience leading master data-related projects or initiatives in a global or cross-functional setting.
- Deep understanding of ERP systems (preferably SAP ECC or S/4HANA) and key business processes (e.g. production, planning, logistics, finance).
Technical Skills:
- Strong working knowledge of master data structures and interdependencies across systems.
- Experience with MDM tools (e.g. SAP MDG, Winshuttle) and data quality platforms.
- Ability to analyze and improve existing data workflows and propose scalable solutions.
- Familiarity with data migration and system implementation projects is a plus.
- Certifications such as CDMP, DGSP, or MDM are a plus.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving, ability to work with incomplete or complex information.
- Ability to lead discussions, build consensus, and influence without formal authority.
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively across regions and functions.
- Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with strong ownership of data quality.
Languages:
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required. German or Chinese is a plus.
