The Role
King's College Latvia is seeking a caring and reliable Stand-In School Nurse to provide cover during absences of our regular school nurse. This is initially a flexible, on-call type position — ideal for someone looking for part-time work, a second job, or a role that fits around other commitments.
We are happy to work around the right candidate's availability, and while this position begins on a cover basis, we anticipate the role becoming more regular over time, with the possibility of a permanent position for the right person.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first aid and basic medical care to students and staff during school hours
- Administer medication in line with school policy and parental consent
- Assess and respond to illness or injury, escalating to emergency services or parents/guardians when necessary
- Maintain accurate and confidential student health records
- Liaise with parents, teachers, and school leadership regarding student health matters
- Support the school's health and safety policies and procedures
- Ensure the medical/first aid room is well-stocked, clean, and organised
- Support the catering team with guidance on student food allergies and dietary requirements
About You
- Registered/qualified nurse (or equivalent recognised medical qualification)
- Experience working with children or young people preferred; school nursing experience is an advantage
- Calm, caring, and confident in emergency situations
- Strong communication skills, comfortable liaising with students, parents, and staff
- Flexible and reliable, able to respond at short notice to cover absences
- Ability to communicate with parents from different countries
- Willing and able to work flexible hours as needed
