Data Analyst
Wandoo Finance is a consumer lending fintech — HQ in Latvia, live in Poland, Spain, Romania, Peru and now also Lithuania. Five markets today, and we have no intention of stopping there. It's lending everywhere, but that's roughly where the similarity ends: different products, different regulators, different customer behaviour in every market — and numbers that diverge for reasons which are rarely obvious.
We're building our analytics function from scratch and hiring several analysts at once. This is the middle of that — for someone who has done real analysis, wants to do a lot more of it, and wants to be considerably better at it a year from now.
What You'd Be Doing
You'll sit inside our four-person data team, not next to it — you'll understand how the data is produced, not just how to query it. Requests will come in and you'll handle them, but the interesting part starts after the number: what it actually means, whether it's even the right number, and what should happen next. You'll get context and priorities rather than step-by-step instructions, and how far you take a question is largely up to you.
Concretely:
- Answer real business questions — why conversion moves in one market and not another, which acquisition channels actually pay back, where the collections process can be tightened
- Own the work end to end: the question, the data, the analysis, the answer, and what changed because of it
- Ask what someone is actually trying to decide before you answer what they literally asked
- Learn how the data is made — source systems, pipelines, transformations — and flag what's missing, wrong, or unusable
- Question numbers, including your own. Verify first, send second.
- Grow into the analyst other people come to. We'd rather you outgrow this job description than settle into it.
The Stack You'll Work With
- BigQuery as the warehouse — everything lives there
- Power BI for reporting and self-service
- dbt for the transformation layer, currently being rolled out across markets
- Python where it earns its place — automation, API pulls, anything Excel shouldn't be doing
- Jira / Atlassian for how work gets tracked
You don't need all of it on day one. You do need to want to.
What You Bring to the Table
- Experience doing actual analysis — a couple of years, in any industry. Not just building reports someone else specified.
- SQL — non-negotiable. You write your own queries: joins, aggregations, window functions, and the patience to figure out why the number is wrong.
- Excel — non-negotiable. Real Excel, not "I can build a pivot table."
- Critical thinking. When a result surprises you, your first instinct is to verify it, not to send it.
- Communication. You can explain a finding to someone who has three minutes and zero interest in your methodology.
- Appetite. You want more responsibility than you currently have, and you'll take it when it's offered.
Nice to Have
- Power BI, or any serious BI tool — the tool matters less than knowing what a good chart is
- Python — genuinely optional to start
- Experience in lending, fintech, or any high-volume transactional business
- Exposure to working across more than one market or country
What you get
- Competitive salary - 2500-4500 EUR gross
- Salary review - every year, because progress matters
- Hybrid 3+2 - three days in the office, two days from home
- Workcation - work from anywhere, up to 2 weeks a year
- Annual performance bonus - results are recognised, not just expected
- Birthday off - your day, your rules, no questions asked
- Health insurance - extended coverage after probation
- Private gym - on-site, employee-only, premium
- Learning budget - chosen by you, approved by us
Who This Is For
You've been doing analysis for a while, but most of it is reporting: the question is known, the answer is known, and your job is to refresh it. You want the questions where nobody knows the answer yet. If you want more than your current role lets you show — apply. Show us how you think.
