DK NEJET is a Ukrainian–Latvian software-driven defense-tech group designing and manufacturing autonomous next-generation FPV drone systems for modern warfare. Our cost-effective solutions span both air-to-ground and air-to-air (interceptor) domains, addressing the full spectrum of modern battlefield needs.
We are looking for a Interceptor Systems Software Engineer to work closely with our FPV drone development team, with a primary focus on high-speed interceptor drones and the wider interception system.
The engineer will develop and adapt flight-control software, create custom firmware and configurations, and implement new functions for UAV operation. This may include customised Betaflight firmware and CLI configurations, flight-control logic, automated or assisted take-off and landing, dynamic PID adjustments, failsafes, and other specialised flight modes.
The role also includes close cooperation with radar, ground control station, electronics, and flight-test teams. The engineer will help establish reliable communication between the drone, radar, ground control station, Raspberry Pi, and other parts of the interception system.
This is a hands-on R&D position combining software development, embedded systems, FPV drone knowledge, system integration, and flight testing.
Requirements
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python.
- Experience with Linux and Raspberry Pi or similar embedded computers.
- Understanding of UAV flight-control systems: Betaflight, INAV, or ArduPilot.
- Experience developing, modifying, or configuring embedded firmware.
- Understanding of communication protocols and interfaces:
- MAVLink
- UDP/TCP
- UART
- CAN
- SPI/I²C
- WebSockets or APIs
- Ability to integrate several independent systems into one reliable solution.
- Understanding of FPV drone electronics and architecture: flight controller, ESC, receiver, GPS, telemetry, VTX, and onboard computer.
- Good Git skills and the ability to document interfaces and implemented changes.
- English sufficient for technical communication and documentation.
Nice to have
- Experience with AI HATs, computer vision, or edge AI.
- Practical FPV flying and drone-building experience.
- Experience with radar data, target tracking, or interception systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop and modify Betaflight, INAV, ArduPilot, and ExpressLRS firmware or configurations.
- Implement specialised flight functions, such as assisted take-off, landing, control-mode switching, PID adjustments, and failsafes.
- Integrate the interceptor drone with the radar and GCS.
- Implement communication between radar, GCS, Raspberry Pi, and the flight controller.
- Convert radar or GCS target information into commands that can be used by the interceptor.
- Send telemetry, system status, position, and mission information back to the GCS.
- Participate in bench tests, integration tests, and flight tests.
