The Canadian Armed Forces Detachment in Latvia is recruiting one (1) IT Support Assistant to support our military employees. You will provide reliable IT support and troubleshooting services to ensure Canadian Armed Forces personnel stay connected and can perform their duties effectively. This position is not remote and your presence at the office is required.
Who are we?
We are Task Force Latvia (TFL). We are Canada’s largest overseas military deployment, supporting North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) security and deterrence efforts in Europe. TFL works with our NATO partners to enhance security, readiness, and cooperation along NATO’s eastern border. By joining our team, you will play a meaningful role in supporting TFL in completing their NATO mission.
What could you be doing?
- Provide initial IT support and problem resolution.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and basic network issues
- Deliver technical advice, guidance, and coaching to users.
- Assist users with technical issues in a timely and professional manner.

Condition of employment
While the Canadian Armed Forces will coordinate the security clearance process, the successful candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain both a Reliability Status and a NATO Secret security clearance.
Only citizens of current NATO member countries are eligible to apply for a NATO Secret security clearance.
Work week hours: 37.5 (full-time)
Classification: LE-A2
Starting Montly Salary (step 1, gross): €2,138.07 EUR
Salary Monthly Growth(step 13/end step, gross): €2,742.57 EUR
Special Allowances
These positions are currently eligible for a commuting allowance and location-specific pay.
Details of these can be shared upon appointment.
Location
Ādaži Military Base and/or Ceri, Latvia.
This position is NOT remote and your presence at the office is required.

NON-NEGOTIABLE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT
The following requirements are mandatory:
- You must be a national of a NATO member country. Only citizens of current NATO member countries are eligible to apply for a NATO Secret security clearance.
- Must be able to obtain, and maintain, a NATO Secret security clearance.
- If your country of citizenship has compulsory military service (conscription) for its citizens, you must have completed your compulsory military service (conscription) as per your country of citizenship’s legislation. If your country of citizenship does not have compulsory military service (conscription) for its citizens, this requirement is not relevant for you.
- Must be able to provide valid proof that you are legally entitled to reside and work in Latvia indefinitely.
- You must be willing to work on location. Locations include Ādaži Military Base and/or Ceri, Latvia.
Essential Qualification
Must be clearly demonstrated in your CV and/or cover letter
Education
- Completion of secondary/high school diploma or relevant professional experience, usually gained over two years, providing administrative support in an office environment.
Experience
- Experience providing first-line IT support (help desk or desktop support) in a professional environment including trouble shooting hardware, software, and basic network issues.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word and/or Outlook) or equivalent. Equivalent office applications are defined as Google: Sheets, Slides and Docs OR Apple: Numbers, Keynote and Pages.
- Experience providing administrative or financial support services in an office environment (including any of the following tasks: data entry, maintaining electronic records, filing, processing documents/forms, managing diaries/agendas etc, responding to emails etc.)

Asset Qualifications
Meeting all asset qualifications is not required; however, if applicable, they should be included in your application.
- Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience interpreting and applying policies, procedures, directives, or legislation in support of a program or service.
- Experience working with IT service management processes (e.g., ticketing systems, incident tracking).
- Experience managing service requests and incidents through their resolution within Service Desk automation tools.
- Experience updating configuration management databases.
- Experience with MS server and MS Exchange account administration.
- Knowledge of IT security practices in secure environments
- Ability to communicate orally and/or in writing in one or more of the following languages: Latvian, Lithuanian, Estonian, Polish, or Czech.
Operational & Organizational Requirements
- Hours of work are normally daytime, weekday hours comprising of 37.5 hours per week, however these may be subject to occasional variation in line with business requirements
- Depending on location, access to facilities may vary.
- For operational or unforeseen business reasons, employees must be willing and able to work from home, if requested to do so by their supervisor. However, this position is office-based and is not a remote position.
- Willingness and ability to complete mandatory education/training relevant to the position and maintain the relevant certification throughout the duration of employment.
