Senior Database Developer (MS SQL / Data Platform)
Join us to contribute to our Data Platform and Data Warehouse solutions for one of the largest e-commerce destinations in the US. You'll be working in a multi-location Agile team. The position is in Riga, Latvia, with remote work possibilities.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize stored procedures, functions, triggers, views and complex queries (T-SQL) for our Order Management System and Data Warehouse
- Own database architecture and design on your projects; define and enforce data-integrity standards
- Build and maintain ETL: T-SQL on SQL Server today, Python/PySpark on our Spark + Iceberg lakehouse orchestrated by Airflow
- Integrate 3rd-party data sources (Google Analytics / BigQuery, Jira, Workday, Elasticsearch, MySQL systems)
- Build reports and dashboards in Apache Superset (some Power BI)
- Automate database maintenance and monitoring
- Work AI-first: the whole team uses Claude Code for development, reviews and documentation, and so will you
Skills & Requirements:
- 3+ years with Microsoft SQL Server 2017–2022
- Strong T-SQL: procedures, functions, triggers, views, complex queries
- Proven query/process optimization and database maintenance skills
- Data Warehouse concepts (dimensional modelling, incremental loads)
- Working knowledge of MySQL
- Git-based workflow
- Strong written and spoken English, problem-solving, ownership
- Willingness to use AI coding assistants daily as a core part of the job
Qualification:
- Python for data engineering (pandas, PySpark) is considered a plus
- Lakehouse stack: Apache Spark, Apache Iceberg, Apache Airflow is considered a plus
- Apache Superset or Power BI is considered a plus
- AWS (S3, EKS/Kubernetes), Apache Ranger or similar access-control tools are considered a plus
- SSIS / SSRS / SSAS / SSDT are considered a plus
- Hands-on AI-assisted development (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) is considered a plus
- C# is considered a plus
- Computer Science or IT degree is considered a plus
